Self-Reliance Kickboxing – Program Structure & Shirt System

At Self-Reliance every member grows through a clear, structured training path with three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each level focuses on different skills, intensity, and expectations to help you build real confidence and real self-reliance over time.

To keep things simple and to help everyone know where they’re at in the journey, we use a shirt color system:

  • White Shirt – Beginner Program

  • Red Shirt – Intermediate Program

  • Black Shirt – Advanced Program

These colors don’t represent “talent.” They represent time, consistency, and understanding of how the gym works. Even if you're an experienced fighter, you start in a white shirt so you can learn our drills, our flow, and our style. As you show commitment, improve your skills, and become comfortable with the system, you move up.

Beginner Program – White Shirt

This is where everyone starts. The focus is on building a strong foundation: basic footwork, fundamental strikes, simple combinations, light defensive work, and gentle hands-on drills. You’ll learn the essential movements and mechanics that prepare you for the next level. Perfect for people brand new to kickboxing or returning after a long break.

Intermediate Program – Red Shirt

This class builds on the fundamentals and evolves them into real fight application. Instead of just learning how to punch and kick, you’ll learn how to fight—when to strike, why to strike, and how to put everything together under pressure.

We expand your weapons beyond the basics, introducing more advanced punches and multiple variations of the core kicks. You’ll develop a deeper understanding of technique, sharpen your strategy, and start identifying your personal strengths and weaknesses.

Expect a faster-paced environment with less step-by-step instruction and more drills, situational work, and controlled sparring designed to push your skill and confidence to the next level.

Advanced Program – Black Shirt

The advanced program is where everything comes together at a higher level. The pace is faster, the intensity is higher, and the expectations are greater. This class includes significantly more sparring, allowing you to apply your skills in real-time against resisting opponents.

We expand your arsenal with advanced techniques, including spinning hook kicks, axe kicks, and more complex punching combinations. Training involves more complicated sequences and challenging scenarios that force you to think, adapt, and execute under pressure.

At this level, your body should already be conditioned to handle impact and maintain performance through demanding rounds. We push that further with increased conditioning and a more physical training environment.

This isn’t about learning—it’s about mastery. It’s a harder program designed to sharpen your skills, test your limits, and keep your martial arts evolving.
